volkswagen fleet sponsors conservation programme

Jun 11, 2004

Hertfordshire-based Paradise Wildlife Park has taken delivery of a Volkswagen Touareg 4x4 as part of a sponsorship programme with Volkswagen Fleet Services.

The fully-liveried Touareg, with a 2.5-litre TDI engine, will be with the Paradise Wildlife Park for two years, allowing it to relaunch its community ‘outreach’ programme.  This involves visiting schools and holding conservation road shows in neighbouring counties to increase awareness of the Park and its work, and raise funds for overseas conservation work.

Paradise Wildlife Park is one of Britain’s leading small zoos as well as a family fun park, and is set in 25 acres of woodland near Broxbourne, 20 miles north of London.  It is home to over 250 animals including several rare and endangered species, and attracts around a quarter of a million visitors each year.

Volkswagen Fleet Services first became involved with Paradise Wildlife Park last year, when it celebrated winning the Fleet News Manufacturer of the Year award for the third time with sponsorship of the tiger sanctuary, a dedication plaque, and a party at the Park.  As part of this new deal, Volkswagen corporate customers will be able to visit Paradise Wildlife Park, sponsor the animals and hold meetings in ‘unique’ surroundings.

Commenting on the sponsorship, Head of Volkswagen Fleet Services, Kinner said: ‘It’s exciting to be involved in this unique project, and I’m delighted that through the Touareg sponsorship we can give something back to the community.’

Steve Sampson, Director of the Paradise Wildlife Park said: ‘The Touareg will be the perfect vehicle to use off-road within the Park, and equally on-road in our outreach programme.  We’re delighted to continue our association with Volkswagen Fleet Services and are confident it will be beneficial to both parties.’

Volkswagen Fleet Services claimed the Fleet News Manufacturer of the Year award for the fourth time earlier this year.  For more details on the award-winning department, call 0800 38 989 38 or visit www.volkswagen.co.uk/fleet.
